One click per day before you boil your kettle

The Literacy site is a fantastic place to shop if you love online shopping, but I go there for a different reason. In less than the time it takes to boil a kettle, or less time than it takes to sign into AOL! I click on the Literacy Site and my click gives sponsors the opportunity to donate free books to the children around the world who need to be given the most precious gift of reading.

So before you go boil your kettle give the site your Click!  http://bit.ly/cO5XZo

Who knows you might stay and shop too, which will be more therapeutic than getting rid of all that spam in your AOL inbox anyhow!

  • US: Actress and Advocate Jessica Alba in Washington DC with lessons planned across the country.
  • Bangladesh: Over 3 million people to take part in the Big Lesson.
  • Congo : 1GOAL matches in the national stadium and more than 300 schools in Kinshasa taking part in the lesson.

fabio.jpgEngland manager Fabio Capello has become the 100th ambassador for the 1GOAL campaign.

for the 1GOAL campaign this week. Capello is showing his support for education alongside over 40 other players and four Premier League Clubs in the United Kingdom.

In Britain, 1GOAL will be hosting its lesson in June during the World Cup when over 3,000 schools are expected to take part and add their support to the campaign.

1GOAL in Uruguay in the run up to Action Week

Head coach of the Uruguay national football team, Oscar Washington Tabarez, joined 1GOAL this week, by pledging his “total support” and inviting everyone to join him.

Tabarez spoke out about the connection between football and education; “when it comes to football, some aspects of education deserve specific contemplation. Football itself has an educational aspect – it trains you benevolence, solidarity, it brings along challenges, frustration, and joy. It is a school of life, and you have to be prepared to play along in it”.

In Uruguay, football will play a central role during Action Week and the Melo Wanderers  under 8’s (pictured above right) are enjoying preparing for their part in the ‘Big Lesson’ on the 20th.

Coalitions get crafty with social media – and you can too!

Join 1Goal to support education for all @ 2010 FIFA World Cup

1GOAL.org is a campaign seizing the power of football to ensure that education or all is a lasting impact of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.  Raising our voices all over the world we believe that, together, we can make education a reality for the millions of boys and girls who remain out of school.  72 million children are being denied the chance to go to school.  These children could be our next generation’s leaders, sports stars, doctors and teachers.  But they face a lifelong struggle against poverty.  Help make a difference and join the 1GOAL team: add the 1GOAL widget to your blog and website.
